When I started in the venue world in 2015, wedding planners weren’t really a thing unless you were a celebrity or a really big deal. Coordination was just starting to trend, and as a catering manager and venue director, I was deeply involved in making wedding days happen through all vendor details.
What I noticed? By the time couples got to their final meetings—the fun custom parts, where we talk linens, menus, and floor plans—they were exhausted. Instead of excitement, I heard:
“We just want this to be over.”
UM, EXCUSE ME?! That is so freaking sad. Weddings should be joyful, not a giant stress storm. From that moment on, I made it my mission to make sure no couple ever felt like that on my watch.
Sure, I spent years learning everything—how to run and build venues, how to run a catering team, lighting tricks for flawless photos and makeup arists, the right linen sizes for every table, how to order the perfect amount of booze (important), the ins and outs of rentals, and how to not be that planner who just helps themselves to venue storage. I’ve done dishes, bussed tables, bartended, assisted florists, you name it—I’ve seen it all. I truly believe my experience and passed down knowledge in these categories sets us apart.
But more importantly? I learned just how crucial teamwork is. Every vendor has their own process, their own expertise, and rather than assuming—we collaborate. A well-oiled vendor team = a seamless, stress-free wedding for you.
Yes, as planners, we're here to run the show and make the calls, but we’re not here to bark orders or micromanage. We’re problem solvers, critical thinkers, and true team players. A wedding works best when every vendor is empowered to do what they do best, and that’s exactly what we strive for.
